New Substitute Meter For Eventide 2826 And 2830 Omnipressor. Damaged meters are a very common problem on original Eventide Omnipressors, and replacements are nearly impossible to find. To provide a solution we have built up a small quantity of replacements that are very similar, though not exactly the same, as the original Jewell / Honeywell meter. Like the original meter, it mounts with 3 screws.

This is a 1 ma. DC meter with the same dimensions and mounting scheme as the original meter. There are 3 important things you need to know when using one of these to replace an original Omnipressor meter.

1. This meter has much faster ballistics than an original meter, but adding a 2200UF / 25VDC capacitor to the meter terminals will damp it and make it respond properly. We're including one of these capacitors with each meter.

2. All Omnipressors were built with Jewell meters, but 3 different current ratings were used -- 50ua, 500ua, and 1 ma. This meter can be used as a substitute for any of those types, but in some cases a resistor may need to be added to the metering circuit to normalize the ranges of the meter trimpots. We'll include a service bulletin with the meter that explains how to do this.

3. Omnipressors were early Eventide products, and sometimes the meter trimmers can be very difficult to adjust, even with an original working meter. The calibration instructions in the manual are unclear and incomplete in some cases. Sometimes, fixed resistors in the metering circuit must be changed to different values in order to bring the trimmers within range. In addition, the Omnipressor models can be very challenging to service and calibrate, especially if the technician is unfamiliar with their quirks. If you're replacing a meter in one of these units and servicing it, please be aware that de-bugging and calibration can be very tricky.
