Like the dbx 160's, these classic vintage compressors have a wide range of control parameters and work extremely well on a variety of program material. 

The dbx 161 is very similar to the 160, but has unbalanced inputs and outputs. The 161 is +4 in and out, but has slightly lower headroom than the 160. Normally that's not a concern with compressors but you can add headroom by turning down the Output Gain controls by a few db and making up the gain on your console or DAW. It has 1/4" tip-sleeve connectors on the back for the inputs and outputs.

The unit has been completely recapped, calibrated, and tested, and matches the original specs. The circuit boards and electronics are clean and tight.  Specifications have been tested with an Audio Precision analyzer, and match the original dbx specs.  A copy of the manual is included.  The units are guaranteed to work as described.

Mechanical condition and cosmetics are typical for a unit of this age. The front panels are in very good condition except for some scratches on the silver strips along the top. There were some bigger scratches on the side panels that we've painted over, but of course they can't be seen with the unit racked. A bound copy of the Instruction Manual is included.
